Department
VGDS is administered under the Environment, Forest & Climate Change Department, Government of Bihar, which is responsible for the sanctuary's protection, planning and long-term conservation policy.
Sanctuary Administration
Day-to-day administration is managed through the Divisional Forest Office, Bhagalpur, which oversees patrolling, visitor services and coordination with local authorities.
Conservation Teams
Field conservation teams support dolphin monitoring, river patrolling, rescue response and awareness activities across the sanctuary stretch. Team structure and current activities are managed through the CMS.
